MMR vaccination does not have any link about causing autism in babies. Autism, however, is a genetic disorder that causes brain structure abnormalities. There appears to be a pattern of autism or related disabilities in many families, further supporting the theory of a genetic basis for the disorder. While no gene has been identified as causing autism, researchers are looking for segments of irregular genetic code that children with autism may have inherited. Some kids also seem to be born with autism susceptibility, but researchers have not yet identified a single “trigger” that causes autism to develop.
